machine is cleaning for hours and still not passing the clean test…what’s wrong?

I should say this is an OM600SMD with a 12×18 test cell

I had the same issue, it could be either the resistivity probe or something else

cleaning forever can mean that the resistivity probe or circuits are bad, that the DI columns are dirty and need to be replaced, or your test fluid does not have the right mixture of alcohol or is just plain dirty. I’d start with looking at the res. probe and circuits. Do you have the res. test plug?

I’m not sure what the “res. test plug” you asked about. Please, what is it and what does it do?

The “res. test plug” is a test plug that you substitute for the probe. Actually its called a “virtual probe” and is Scientific Solutions part number 0301170. The probe has a cable with a connector. You unplug the probe from the connector and plug the virtual probe in its place. Then you run the VERIFY ELECTRICAL electrical performance routine that is built into the machine. This will help determine if the probe or probe electronics are good or bad.

Thanks for the part number. I will order the virtual probe from Scientific Solutions.

If you DI Columns are old, you might want to just replace them. After a some time of use, the DI Columns get too dirty to clean the test solvent. Your OM600SMD uses four of the Scientific Solutions part number 0301168. If you find it is neither the probe or columns, then you want to replace the test fluid. You can also get this from Scientific Solutions and you will need like 11 gallons

We got both the virtual probe and new DI Columns. We actually had two problems. The virtual probe revealed a problem with our resistivity circuits. We sent the board to scientific solutions for repair. Now the unit cleans, but it takes a long time, like 30 minutes, but at least its not stuck in clean mode forever. So we then replaced the DI Columns with the new ones from Scientific Solutions. Now all is working well and it only takes a few minutes to clean the test solvent.
