ChipChat Web Hosting

The ChipChat Web Hosting is a service that provides the infrastructure for websites to be accessible on the internet. Essentially it is the “home” where a website is located. A computer server is this home and provides the disk space for web page file storage and computer memory and cpu allocation for presenting the web site and to perform web-based software execution. ChipChat Web Hosting is a “Managed Service” where ChipChat handles server maintenance, security and updates.

A customer of the ChipChat Web Hosting has many resources and options available including: ChipChat Email, ChipChat Blog, ChipChat Forum, ChipChat VPN and ChipChat AI. This complete suite of communication software options supports a wide range of website requirements.

The ChipChat Web Hosting provides different types of configurations to meet the needs of the website. These types include:

Shared Hosting – Multiple websites share resources on a single server. Access to the different websites on the server thru a domain name server resolves the the same ip address for all of the different websites running on the shared server. All websites on the shared computer server share the computer resources of disk space, memory and cpu processing power. ChipChat employs multiple duplicate shared servers at different locations to provide redundancy to accommodate regional access issues with automatic switch-over as necessary.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) – Like the “Shared Server” option, this also has multiple websites running on a shared single computer server. However, in this case each website has its own dedicated “virtual” environment. This dedicated environment provides each webiste with guaranteed allocation of disk space, memory and cpu processing power. This independence means that one rogue website cannot “hog” the allocation of resources at the expense of the other websites also located on the same server. Like the “shared” option, the VPS option has duplicate multi-site locations to provide redundancy and auto switch-over to accommodate regional issues.

Dedicated Hosting: Unlike the shared and the VPS options, dedicated hosting provides an entire dedicated computer server, hardware and software, for a single website. In this case, the website has the full allocation of all disk space, memory and cpu allocation. If the website requires more disk, memory or cpu power, then the dedicated hardware can be upgraded to more disk space, more memory or a faster cpu.
